Theme of the Workshop: THE ROLE OF PAINTING AND DECORATION IN THE TRADITIONAL BULGARIAN LIFESTYLE AND CULTURE

Subject area: Artistic education, also including Arts and Crafts and Music

Basic skills for adult learners

Intercultural education

Working language(s): EN

Work workshop is designed for adults from countries participating in the “Lifelong Learning Program” with different age, education and profession, dealing with fine art unprofessionally, with a strong interest in traditional culture. The participation of persons from vulnerable social groups /long-term unemployed, people living in rural or economically disadvantaged areas, representatives of immigrant, ethnic or other minorities, people over 50 years/ will be encouraged.
Participation in the workshop is free – travel, accommodation, subsistence and training costs will be covered by the organizer.

Programme of the Workshop:

First day:
1. Block on “team building” and “ice-breaking” activities. Art presentation of the participants.

2. Presentation entitled: “Introduction to traditional Bulgarian art – painting and decoration.”

3. Visit the Ethnographic Museum and authentic ceramics and pottery studio.

Second day:

1. Art classes – “Decoration of small ceramics forms”
2. Visit a museum of Thracian art in the village Eleshnitsa;

3. Visit of Dobarsko:

- Folklore demonstration by “Dobarskite babi”;

- Old church /under the protection of UNESCO/.

Third day:

1. Art classes – “Folklore motifs”

Fourth day:

1. Visit the town of Bansko:

- The old part of the town;

- Church “Sveta troica”;

- Velyanova house;

- Permanent icon exhibition.

- PLEIN AIR in the old town

Fifth day:

1. Art classes

- Drawing on musical compositions;

- Experimental Painting.

Sixth day:

1. Art classes – preparing works for exhibition

Seventh day:

1. Arrangement of the exhibition. Photo documentation.

2. Opening of the exhibition. Meeting with visitors.

3. Discussion opportunities for future cooperation and follow-up activities.

4. Final session to evaluate the implementation of the workshop.

1. Fill the Learner application form; /please ask the Workshop organizer for the Learner application form/

2. Send the application to eurocenter21@mail.bg along with 3 photos of your paintings or works of art /if you have any/,

3. Send a paper copy of this application form duly completed and signed by post to the following address:

DEADLINE: Please note that the Application forms need to be returned by the 29th January 2012.

DEADLINE for Selection of the 20 participants: 12th of February 2012

Selection process: After receiving your filled learner application forms we will analyze them and select the 20 final participants, according to Grundtvig rules and the defined and approved target group in this Grundtvig project.

After the 12th of February 2012, we will get in touch with all that honoured us with a manifestation of interest followed by an application form, where we will inform of their status.
